What should a good sports outfit be made of?
Sportswear has its own rules. It must be comfortable, flexible, extremely comfortable and durable. However, even the most beautiful sports set created on the basis of the most refined construction in the world will not pass the test without the most important thing - the right material. What should it be? And why is cotton not the best solution for the gym? You will find out in today's post!
You have certainly noticed that the vast majority of sportswear is made of synthetic materials such as polyamide, elastane or polyester. It must be admitted that few materials are as demonized as they are. While we try to avoid them in our everyday wardrobe, we will die for them in sports!
All because this material is exceptionally practical and functional. Thanks to its properties, it will work well during all training sessions, both outdoors, in the gym and at home. Additionally, unlike knits and natural fabrics, polyamide or polyester do not absorb water. That is why even during the most intensive training sessions, when sweat runs down the forehead and neck, we do not feel damp or cold.
In turn, when choosing a cotton sports set for training, we must reckon with the fact that with the first drop of sweat, it will become heavier and heavier and heavier... Terribly uncomfortable, and what's worse - it can even lead to painful abrasions! Cotton sportswear will find use during very low-intensity training, during yoga or stretching.
You've probably noticed that elastane is often added to the materials used to sew gym clothes. This addition makes leggings or a sports top so flexible, increases their stretchability, perfectly adapts to the body and is simply super comfortable. What's also incredibly important - none of us wants a top or leggings to lose their shape after a few wears and washes. Elastane is responsible for returning the fibers to their original state - thanks to it, good sportswear keeps its shape, without stretched elbows or knees, for years! And besides... Take my word for it, without it, we would need a whole brigade of helpers to put on sports leggings.
A big plus of polyester sportswear is also the fact that you can wash them at higher temperatures and be sure that they will not change their shape or color, and that they dry very quickly. Remember, however, to carefully check the manufacturer's labels before the first wash and always follow these instructions. Thanks to this, you will be able to enjoy great products for longer. In the case of our clothes, to extend the maximum time of use, we recommend washing at 30 degrees.
In addition to polyester, the previously mentioned polyamide is invaluable in sportswear. It is as durable as polyester, but definitely stiffer. That is why it is usually mixed with other fibers so that the final design is as comfortable to use as possible. An example of this is our brand. At BeShaped, in order to obtain products of the highest quality, while being comfortable and giving the impression of a second skin, we used a special blend of polyester, polyamide (nylon) and elastane.
Polyester provided us with amazing product properties, thanks to the addition of polyamide we were able to obtain all those beautiful, intense colors that we have in our assortment, and elastane made all of them exceptionally flexible and pleasant to use. All to make your and our training sessions pure pleasure!
