How to care for sportswear?

I am sure you are perfectly aware of how important it is to take proper care of your clothes. I am not only talking about everyday clothes, but especially sports clothes , which require a little more attention. Read about how to take care of your clothes  to the gym, so that they serve us as long as possible.

Good sportswear is often a big investment. Properly cared for, it will serve us for years, but many of us still make a few mistakes that ruin our favorite sports sets. Why is this happening?

Sportswear is made of materials with technical properties. They are often flexible, shape-giving, moisture- and odor-absorbing. Improper care can disrupt and deprive clothes of all the benefits we care about the most. There are a few tricks that will help extend the "life" of your favorite leggings and training top ! Above all, remember to always read the washing instructions on the product carefully. And in addition, follow our few golden tips!

Wash at low temperatures with appropriate detergents!

Sportswear does not like temperatures above 30 degrees, so remember to always wash them in cold water. Most washing machines have a program for washing delicate or sports fabrics - it is worth using it! In addition, be careful with the spin cycle. Fast and intensive spins are not the safest solution if you care about the good condition of your clothes. They can stretch them even by several sizes, and then they will turn out to be completely useless.

For washing, choose delicate detergents, or those dedicated to sportswear. If possible, avoid classic washing powders. This is a very strong detergent that can negatively affect the properties of clothing. In addition, be sure to give up all fabric softeners.  The lanolin contained in them, similarly to the powder, has a disastrous effect on advanced fiber weaves in technical clothing.

Another important tip is that clothes should be washed immediately after training. They should not be left in the laundry room for too long and wait for their turn. Dried sweat (i.e. salt), just like the strong detergents described earlier, can not only have a terrible effect on the condition of clothes, but also are an ideal environment for bacteria to grow, which can result in an unpleasant odor that will be hard to get rid of.

Do not tumble dry or iron!

Contact with high temperatures is deadly to clothes. In the best case, they will lose their properties. In the worst case, they will simply burn, and that is the last thing we want when buying our dream sports set.

Remember also that ironing sportswear simply doesn't make sense! ;) Firstly - they will fit and adhere perfectly to your body, and secondly, the material they are made of is very easy to burn with an iron. Warning! Be especially careful with typically slimming models, in our case these include Well Shaped and Bottom Up leggings.

After washing, simply hang the clothes evenly and leave to dry naturally.

Take double care of white things!

Not just delicate liquids, but also similar colors! Wash white sports tops and leggings with similar, light colors with the addition of baking soda or vinegar. They will help you keep their snow-white color for longer.

Never wash them with clothes that have protruding elements (e.g. zippers, rhinestones, studs), as they may damage the fabric.

In the case of cotton or viscose knits, the matter is a bit easier. Here, you can use your favorite washing powder or liquid, but instead of drying in a dryer, choose the classic form. Remember to dry such clothes flat, or hang them on several strings. Thanks to this procedure, the clothes will enjoy their perfect shape for longer.
